Caitlyn Mello is a self-taught, mixed media artist, currently residing in Waldo County, Maine. She is also an educated and trained environmental scientist, earning a BS in Environmental Earth and Ocean Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Her creative practice began when she was young. Always creating, but rarely sharing. In 2014, she began to showcase and sell her artwork throughout the US. She gravitates towards an array of mediums, with a strong focus on ink manipulation. She strives to contrast abstract with detail in her work, usually achieving this by combining two or more mediums and/or styles. Her strong coastal connection is evident in her most recent work, where she highlights researched and documented effects of climate change on Maine ocean life.
Caitlyn’s also passionate about using her artwork to make a global positive impact. 10% profit from each original artwork sale is donated to water improvement projects around the globe, with the combined efforts of the Bitgive Foundation and Givetrack.org.
